A civilization's values influences its scientific point of view.
Greek science was the study of beauty in the world. Modern science aims to master nature. Newton's vision of the universe as a machine operating with force and inertia, & action and reaction, reflected the the priorities of the new industrial age. Today, the theory that is having the most profound effect on our point of view is quantum mechanics, the study of sub-atomic particles.
